A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin and Downs Chapel, located at Fifth and Magnolia streets, for Loyce Ghormley, 83, of Ceres. She died July 10, 2012 at the home of her son Aaron Wilkins after a brief illness.

Born as Loyce Helen Roberts on April 30, 1929 in Holdenville, Okla., to James Victor and Katie Virginia Roberts, Loyce was one of three sisters with seven brothers. Her family moved to Ceres when Loyce was a young girl. She attended Ceres High School and Modesto Junior College. She married Curtis A. Wilkins Jr., who bore her two sons and a daughter. They divorced after seven years and she married Paul E. Ghormley of Modesto. They moved from Ceres, and lived and worked in Colorado, Texas, Illinois, and Arkansas. In the late 1980s, Loyce separated from Paul and returned to Petaluma, and eventually Ceres, where she spent the remaining years of her life working for ARC of Stanislaus County and Century 21-Apollo Real Estate in Modesto.

She leaves behind her children, Sean Wilkins of Fremont, Aaron Wilkins of Modesto and Cecille Huerta of Vallejo; her brother, James Roberts of McCall, Idaho; and two granddaughters, Seanna Magana of Modesto and Lesley Wilkins of Modesto. She was preceded in death by daughter Kimberley, two sisters, six brothers and her parents.
