A combination Mass and rosary was held Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Maria Sanchez Zuniga, 73, of Modesto. She died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of the graveside service Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara.
Born Sept. 14, 1932, Mrs. Zuniga was a native of Coalcomn, Michoacn, Mexico, and lived in Modesto since 2002, and previously had lived in Santa Barbara since 1963. She was a homemaker who enjoyed travel and gardening.
She leaves behind her husband, Jose Zuniga Alvarez of Modesto; six children, Manuel Ayala of Goleta, Esther Chavez of Watsonville, Javier Zuniga of Bakersfield, Leticia Zuniga of Santa Barbara, Jose Zuniga of Modesto and Tony Zuniga of Santa Paula; two sisters, MaTrinidad Sanchez of Watsonville and Jovita Sanchez of Coalcomn; and 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Raul Zuniga.
