A memorial service will be held at Samaritan Village, 7700 Fox Road, Hughson, California at 4 p.m. on Monday Dec. 20 for Mary Mary Margaret Crane Lamb, 89, of Hughson. She died Nov. 6, 2010.

Born May 18, 1921 in Ontario, Ore., to Pearl and Anna Crane, Mary grew up in Paola, Kansas. After graduating from Paola High School, Mary moved to Long Beach with friends from Paola to work in an airplane assembly plant for the war effort. During the war, she married Robert Poteet, also of Paola, and was widowed shortly thereafter. After the war, she moved to Berkeley where she met Jack Lamb. They married in 1947 in Kansas, on their way to Harvard Law School, where Mary supported them working as a legal secretary in Boston. They settled in Modesto in 1955, working together to establish a law practice and then a farming enterprise. She earned a degree from California State College Stanislaus in 1975 with a major in Chinese history. Mrs. Lamb had a number of occupations, including a professional wrestling promoter, farm manager, hay saleswoman, and bookkeeper. She was a cook, and an avid student of politics.

She leaves behind her two children, Bonnie Lamb of Berkeley, and Dan Lamb of Turlock; and three grandchildren, Anna Lamb, James Lamb and Geoffrey Lamb. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Jack B. Lamb, brothers Roy Crane and Wilson Crane, and her parents.

Remembrances may be sent to a public school of the donor's choice.
