A memorial service was held Friday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Modesto for Florencia "Pauline" Retez, 65, of Ceres. She died July 4, 2012.
Born July 10, 1946 in Calexico, California, to Arrelio Retez and Mary Martinez, Pauline was raised in Fresno, but has spent her adult life in the Ceres and Modesto area.
She leaves behind her lifetime companion, Robert Walker; her four children, Magdalena Castilleja, Rey Juarez, Alicia Walker and Anthony Walker; three brothers, Roy Retez, John Avila and Lorenzo Retez; two sisters, Margie Casillas and Cora Montez; and eight grandchildren, Julian Castilleja, Breihanna Castilleja, Jonathan Castilleja, Trevor Juarez, Kaylee Juarez, Anicia Walker, Hoss Walker and Angelo Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother George Avila.
