A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home (Riverside Chapel), 900 Santa Fe, Hughson, for Randal Anthony Atchison, 24, of Ceres. He died unexpected in Sacramento on Nov. 3, 2010.

A church service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 3824 Mitchell Rd., Ceres, with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born April 20, 1986 in Roseville, to James and Andrea (Schallberger) Atchison, Randy attended Ceres High School, where he lettered in basketball, baseball and football. While in high school, Randy enrolled in criminal justice classes where his teacher, Randy Cerny, inspired him to pursue his dream in a law enforcement career. Upon graduation from high school, Randy became a Modesto Police explorer scout. He also helped his father coach Ceres youth basketball, football and baseball and officiating at youth sports events. He and girlfriend Kimberlee Andrada, became parents on Oct. 4 with a baby girl, Kaylee Lynn Atchison. Randy was accepted into the California Highway Patrol Academy as a cadet on Oct. 25, and was honored to be fulfilling his life long dream to join the law enforcement community. Randy enjoyed playing video games, river rafting and spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves behind his daughter, Kaylee; his parents, Andrea and James Atchison; two brothers, Zachary Atchison and Chad Atchison; his sister, Alissa; and his girlfriend, Kimberlee Andrada.
