A private Masonic graveside service is scheduled for Roscoe K. Wells, 88, of Ceres. He passed away peacefully at Hale Aloha Convalescent Hospital in Ceres, on August 11, 2012, surrounded by family and staff.

Born on Jan. 21, 1924, in Ocie, Mo., Roscoe lived in Ceres for over 60 years. He was a retired poultry ranch manager and small business owner. Mr. Wells was a member of Smyrna Masonic Lodge #532 for 56 years, and in 2005, he received the Golden Veterans Award in recognition of his milestone of 50 years of membership in the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of California. He was an staunch supporter of education, the Ceres 4-H Club, the Ceres High School Band, and the Salvation Army Men's Fellowship Club. Mr. Wells was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Pearl Wells of Ceres; two daughters, Diane Mortensen of Visalia, and Barbara Wells of Modesto; and two grandchildren, Meghan Mortensen of San Francisco, and Taylor Lankford of Turlock. He was preceded in death by grandson Ross Thomas Wells Mortensen.
