A funeral service was held Tuesday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto for Rosie Castro Escalante, 79, of Ceres. She died April 27, 2011.
Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.
Born March 28, 1932 to Vidal and Herlinda Castro in Atwood, Rosie was raised in Hollister, where she met the love of her life, then settled in Salinas and Ceres. She was known for her cake baking, cooking and kind heart and warm welcome.
She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Joe Escalante of Ceres; and six children, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
