A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Grace Community Christian Church in Ceres for William Augusts Brackett, 79, of Keyes. He died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs is in charge of arrangements.

Born July 18, 1925, Mr. Brackett was a native of Oklahoma and lived in Keyes for 25 years. He was a chrome plater for 30 years, last working at Modesto Plating. Mr. Brackett served in the Navy during World War II.

He leaves behind his wife, Mamie A. Brackett of Molalla, Ore.; two children, Ramond Brackett of Anderson and Murray Brackett of Portland, Ore.; four brothers, Jerry Brackett of Biggs, Floyd Brackett of Anderson, James Brackett of Charlotte, N.C., and Eldon Brackett; his sister, Betty Thomason of Eagle, Idaho; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
