Hale Aloha thanks Skills USA chapter

Editor, Ceres Courier,

The staff and residents of Hale Aloha Convalescent Hospital in Ceres thank the Central Valley High School's Skills USA chapter under the guidance of Miss Collier for their time and attention paid to our residents. The group came into the facility for 12 days and sang Christmas carols to our residents and on the last day presented all our residents with a gift.

You are always hearing about the bad things that kids do and we wanted to let everyone to know that there is good out there, too.

The students and residents formed a friendship and are looking forward to them coming again. The kids did this after school on their own time and provided their own transportation.

Thank you, again, CVHS Skills USA chapter!

Suzy Vernon,

Staff,

Hale Aloha

Ready to send more jobs overseas?

Editor, Ceres Courier,

For the last year, the general population has suffered and is continuing to suffer under the Democrats' policies. California's political focus became even more liberal. California and the rest of the nation moved away from the "failed" policies of Mr. Bush and the era of the Republicans. The expectation of this country was that America would prosper more under the Democrats control and philosophies. Here is the real reality, the unemployment rate, those that are still looking for work, is at 10 percent. The "real" unemployment rate - those that stopped looking for work and those that are under employed - is over 17 percent. The economic crisis that hit California could have been averted over three years ago when the Democrats gained control of California. This state must now make cuts that are going to hurt many more then you and I can imagine.

Mr. Obama and the Democrats have been pushing cap and trade based on junk global warming science. The laws of thermodynamics prove that heat cannot be re-radiated back to the planet's surface and that the influence of CO2 contributes less than 1% of the temperature rise. The Democrats are going to trade your economics future on a false belief in a physical relationship between CO2 and the earth's temperature.

Are you ready to send more jobs overseas? Are you ready to see the unemployment rate go up some more just for the sake of a lie? Don't blame me for our economic problems, you voted for the Democrats.

Scott McComas,

Manteca

Report inhumane & illegal animal fightings

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Regardless of all the issues we face globally, the ones that affect us most directly and daily are those issues in our own community. Though many would not agree with my analysis, I think my hometown is great: Modesto. But here's the sad part - the seedy, underbelly of crime that exists in my town, and many, many other towns around this region. One of the most horrific and cruel acts that go on everyday around this region is animal fighting. Dog fighting, cock fighting and other barbaric acts forcing animals to fight to the death. And it is not just wrong for the fact that it is illegal gambling and inhumane. It also ruins neighborhoods, drives out the good citizens, lowers the value of property and destroys families. We must stand up and do something about this, or they win!

Michael Vick's arrest did one good thing: it shed light on this evil practice. Take back your neighborhoods from these criminals. Contact humanesociety.org/animalfightingor call (202) 452-1100. Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward for $5,000 for the arrest/conviction of these criminals. Your identity is protected.

S. E. Mears,

It's nice to see that someone remembered Maude Smith

Editor, Ceres Courier,

I just read the article about Truman Showen.

My mother Maude Smith was the school teacher. My mom did many great things for kids in the district. Nice to see that she has been remembered.
