Editor, Ceres Courier,
Stanford University has reported the results of a startling new study on when we play golf. (“Tuesday tee times?” July 16 2023, Mercury News)
Pandemic-inspired work-from-home routines have helped people figure out how to avoid weekend crowds at golf courses, hair salons, and shopping malls. Turns out it is possible to take a work call or write an email response from your golf cart.
However interesting this shift in golfing patterns may be, I wonder when Stanford will figure out what kind of “pandemic” it will take to shift the nation in other directions more pressing than weekday leisure.
How about a shift to democracy education in public schools; a shift to a rainbow group of large political parties instead of our current highly limiting red vs. blue; a shift back to a progressive taxation system instead of our current flattened and regressive one.
