Ceres netters beat Sonora

The Ceres High girls tennis team defeated the Sonora Wildcats at Sonora High School on Monday. The Bulldogs won 10 of 13 one-set matches, including seven of eight singles and three of five doubles.

"It was a good first match for the whole team," said Ceres coach Bryan Harden.

Amanda Guajardo won two of three singles matches.

The senior lost 4-6 to Molly Hongola, beat Kelly Bermudes 6-2 and beat Amy Peterson 6-0.

"Amanda definitely should have played better," Harden said.

Ashlee Moring won both of her singles matches.

The senior edged Becca Shelton 7-6 (8-6) and Hongola 6-1.

"I was very happy with the way Ashlee played," Harden said.

Logan Harden won all three of her singles matches.

The freshman beat Nicole Naude 6-2, Bermudes 6-0 and Shelton 7-6 (7-5).

Junior Haylee Adrian and sophomore Kamie Machado won one of three doubles matches.

They beat Stacia Biel and Alexa Janicki 7-5. Adrian and Machado lost 3-6 to Heidi Diestel and Kelly Howard and 3-6 to Rachel Samuelian and Maia Pothier

"They weren't consistent," Harden said.

Freshman Melissa Gonzales and junior Raymina Amino won both of their doubles matches.

They beat Samuelian and Pothier 6-0 and Diestel and Howard 6-2.
