Blaze 10s enjoy run of success
Blaze 10
The Ceres Blaze 10-and-under travel baseball team finished first five times and second once during the 2019 campaign.

The Ceres Blaze 10-and-under travel baseball team’s season came to an end at the 2019 Pony Baseball NorCal 11-year-old Bronco Super Regional Tournament earlier this month in Modesto.

The Blaze advanced to the semifinals.

The top two teams secured berths to the Zone Tournament.

“We were 2-0 going into Sunday,” head coach Gerardo Hernandez said. “All we had to do is win one game to make it to the championship. We would have gotten an automatic bid to the next round. Unfortunately, we didn’t. We lost twice.”

Ceres compiled a 2-2 record on its way to a top-four finish at Super Regionals.

The Blaze lost 13-3 to the eventual-champion Los Altos/Mountain View Mavericks in the semifinals on July 14.

Ceres lost 7-4 to Roseville in the quarterfinals on July 14.

The Blaze opened the tournament with a 5-2 extra-innings victory over San Francisco Youth Baseball on July 11.

Ceres defeated Rocklin White 5-1 on July 13.

The Blaze finished first five times and second once during the 2019 campaign.

“Overall, it was a successful season,” Hernandez said. “The championships are nice. But seeing these guys get better is what we’re all about. We’re going to take a little break and come back as a 12-and-under team in August.”
