Bulldogs extend unbeaten streak

Winners of just four games last winter, Ceres High’s varsity boys soccer team tripled its victory total this past week.

The first-place Bulldogs improved to 12-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the Western Athletic Conference standings with a 6-1 win at Lathrop on Friday.

Ceres High extended its unbeaten streak to nine games.

“I have a great group of kids,” Bulldogs’ head coach Danny Barragan said. “They work hard, have good attitudes and I think the results show it.”

Ceres High’s Andres Madriz tallied two goals and one assist versus Lathrop (0-6-1).

Luis Medina chipped in with two goals.

Elian Acevedo and Hassiel Ruiz both scored once.

Bulldog goalie Leo Trujillo totaled seven saves.

Ceres High outscored Lathrop 4-1 in the opening half.

Ceres High shut out Grace Davis 11-0 on Jan. 16 at Bulldog Stadium.

Rafael Guzman and Saul Ruiz led the Bulldogs in scoring with three goals apiece.

Jose Garcia added two goals.

Madriz had one goal and one assist.

Medina and Julio Nunez each scored once.

Trujillo made eight saves against Grace Davis (1-4-2).

Ceres High led 5-0 at halftime.

The Bulldogs will play host to Beyer (4-3-0) today and Johansen (6-0-1) on Friday.

Both games will begin at 5:30 p.m.
