Central Valley's freshman football team rallied for a 27-13 victory over visiting Atwater on Thursday at Bulldog Stadium.
"This is awesome," Hawks head coach Abraham Navarro said. "It shows the resiliency and passion the kids have. They really wanted to win."
Central Valley's Josiah Ramos rushed for more than 150 yards and scored three touchdowns.
"He's the leader on the team on both offense and defense," Navarro said. "He's one of our better players."
Down 13-0, Central Valley tallied 21 straight points in the second quarter.
Ramos scored on runs of 6 and 35 yards.
Elias Jimenez tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Raymond Lopez.
"We hadn't played a game," said Navarro, whose team battled back from a 13-point deficit. "I didn't know how the kids were going to react. We didn't change anything on the offensive end. Things started clicking."
Ramos scampered 70 yards while accounting for the Hawks' final touchdown in the fourth quarter.
