CV’s Hoffman medals in three events

Central Valley freshman Kalli Hoffman finished first in the 400, second in the 100 and third in the 200 at the WAC Girls Track & Field Championships.

Central Valley’s track and field program closed out the 2021 COVID-shortened season at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on May 15 at Patterson Community Stadium.

“I’m really proud of my team,”  said coach Vanessa Goblirsch . “They worked hard. They did a great job.”

Lance Atkins led Central Valley’s boys team.

He placed third in both the 100 (11.49) and 200 (23.33).

Atkins, Roberto Tiscareno, Julius Medina and Elijah DeLeon, the Hawks’ 4x100 relay team, placed third (47.33).

“He (Atkins) was so focused,” Goblirsch said. 

Tiscareno set a personal record while placing third in the pole vault (10-6).

He also took 12th in the 100 (12.11).

Kaleb La Fountain placed sixth in the discus (102-3) and 10th in the shot put (32-7).

DeLeon placed 10th in the 200 (24.92).

Medina placed 10th in the 300 hurdles (50.42) and 11th in the 110 hurdles (20.77).

Luis Flores placed 15th in the 400 (1:01.75).

Emmanuel Mendoza placed 15th in the 1,600 (5:09.90) and 22nd in the 800 (2:27.55).

Daniel Soares placed 15th in the 3,200 (12:21.51) and 27th in the 1,600 (5:48.95).

Jesse Vazquez placed 16th in the 3,200 (12:21.77) and 28th in the 1,600 (5:53.09).

Anthony Malagon placed 19th in the shot put (29-4).

Roberto Rosales placed 23rd in the 800 (2:28.03) and 1,600 (5:25.50).

Kalli Hoffman and Ashley Anaya led Central Valley’s girls team.

Hoffman placed first in the 400 (1:00.54), second in the 100 (12.90) and third in the 200 (27.05).

She set personal records in the 400 and 200.

“She’s super competitive,” said Goblirsch .

Anaya placed third in the 3,200 (14:21.56) and seventh in the 1,600 (6:21.94).

She set personal records in both events.

“It’s a huge accomplishment for her. She worked hard for it.”

Natalia Armas placed 10th in the 400 (1:13.65).
