Hawks lose to Tigers, Thunder

Central Valley’s varsity softball team lost twice by shutout in Central California Conference play this past week.

The Hawks dropped to 5-7 on the year and 0-3 in the CCC standings after falling 10-0 in five innings at Patterson on March 27.

Central Valley had five different players contribute on offense during the game.

Scarlett Lloyd, Brianna Quiroz, Guiliana Gutierrez, Isabella Pelayo and Julia Roton all singled.

Lloyd started at pitcher.

She gave up five earned runs and three hits with four strikeouts and two walks in three innings.

Vicky Gudino allowed two earned runs and one hits with no strikeouts and three walks in two innings of relief.

The Tigers scored two runs in each of the first two innings, three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to win by the mercy rule.

Buhach Colony beat Central Valley 4-0 on March 25 in Atwater.

Scoreless through four innings, the Thunder scored four times in the bottom of the fifth.

Lloyd totaled eight strikeouts and just one walk in six innings. She surrendered four earned runs and five hits.

Lloyd, Quiroz, Gutierrez, Gabby Benenati and Sammy Espinoza all singled on offense.

Central Valley will travel to Atwater today and host El Capitan on Friday. The CCC games will begin at 4 p.m.
