Central Valley’s girls volleyball team dropped two of three matches last week.

Ceres High suffered a pair of losses.

“Volleyball is a mental game,” Bulldogs’ head coach Nayeli Ramos said. “We have to learn not to give up when things aren’t going our way. We can’t get stuck in the mindset that the game is over when there are still sets left to play.”

Ceres High fell to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the WAC standings following its 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-13) loss to Pacheco on Sept. 16 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

“We won the first set but then lost the next three,” Ramos said. “It was honestly a great game and a good learning experience for us.

Ceres High lost 3-0 (25-5, 25-15, 25-14) at Lathrop on Sept. 14.

“They’re a great team with some really strong hitters and it was a good challenge for us,” Ramos said.

“We started off strong, but we lost some energy as the match went on,” she added. “One area we need to continue improving is our defense and becoming stronger and more consistent on that side of the game.”

Central Valley fell to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the Western Athletic Conference standings following its 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-21) road loss to the Livingston Wolves on Sept. 16.

Amirrah Cornielle led the Hawks with 19 assists, 12 digs and one ace.

Deanika Perez had 17 digs and one ace.

Sofia Garibay had 15 digs, eight kills, four aces.

Kassandra Torres had four kills, four aces and three digs.

Reylena Herrera had three kills and three digs.

Central Valley beat the host Riverbank Bruins 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 24-26, 26-24) on Sept. 15.

With the win, the Hawks matched last season’s victory total.

Central Valley compiled a 4-19 overall record in 2025.

Cornielle led the Hawks with 24 assists, 18 digs, two aces and one kill.

Garibay had 21 digs, four kills, four aces and one block.

Selene Valencia had 18 digs and one assist.

Torres had 14 digs, 12 kills, one ace and one assist.

Perez had 13 digs and one assist.

Selah Chesney had 12 digs and one kill.

Jade Delagrande had 10 digs, three kills, one ace and one assist.

Herrera had five digs, four kills and four aces.

Central Valley lost 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) to the Beyer Patriots on Sept. 14 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

Cornielle led the Hawks with 11 digs, six assists and two kills.

Chesney had 10 digs.

Garibay had seven digs, three kills, one ace and one assist.

Madelyn Morales had seven digs, two kills, one ace and one assist.

Torres had four digs, three aces and two kills.

Valencia had four digs, one ace and one assist.

Perez had four digs, one ace and one assist.
