Shania Evans accomplished a first in her prep girls tennis career by earning all-league honors.

“I’ve never got it (recognition) in any sport,” the Ceres High senior said. “I’m super honored. I exceeded my expectations.”

Evans was selected to the Western Athletic Conference First Team, along with Bulldog teammates Vivian Moreno and Camille Vega.

“I’m proud of the girls for working hard."
Coach Brandon Moring said.

“I’m proud of the girls for working hard,” coach Brandon Moring said.

Evans posted a near-perfect 12-1 record versus WAC opponents. She played the majority of her matches at No. 1 singles.

She contributed at doubles as a freshman. “There was added pressure every match because I wanted to prove to my team I was deserving of being the top singles player,” Evans said. “It made me rise to the occasion.”

Moreno, a senior, compiled an 11-3 record.

“Her only losses were at the No. 1 spot,” Moring said.

Vega, a senior, started at No. 3 singles.

Evans, Moreno and Vega propelled Ceres High to a runner-up finish in the WAC standings (11-3).
