The Ceres Seahawks varsity youth football team enjoyed a successful debut while competing in the Central Valley Gridiron Youth Football & Cheer League for the first time this past weekend.

The Seahawks shut out the Central Valley Lions, 27-0, on Saturday at Central Valley High School.

Ceres piled up 256 yards on the ground.

Roland Brown led the Seahawks with 108 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries.

Jeremiah Lopez carried the ball five times for 44 yards and one TD.

Roylee Prunty rushed for 13 yards and one touchdown on three carries.

Jose Zamora added 62 yards on four attempts.

Ceres’ defense limited Central Valley to just 94 yards.

The Seahawks tallied six sacks and three interceptions.

Amari Obraynt had five tackles and two interceptions.

Luis Ochoa had four tackles, one sack and one interception.

Prunty had five tackles and two sacks.

Lorenzo Morales had six tackles and one sack. 

Lopez and Ray Gutierrez both had four tackles and one sack.

Zamora had six tackles.

Brown and Francisco Villa chipped in with four tackles apiece.

The Lions never posed a threat against the Seahawks.

Ceres raced out to a 20-0 lead in the opening half.

Brown scored on runs of 4 and 47 yards in the first quarter.

Prunty had a 3-yard rushing TD in the second quarter.

Lopez raced 24 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Seahawks competed in the CenCal Jr. League during their first 11 years of existence.
