The Ceres Sizzle 12-and-under travel softball team turned in a respectable showing at the Oct. 26-27 NSA Halloween Classic in Modesto.
The Sizzle finished in third place in the Gold Bracket.
“It was a big tournament,” head coach Nicole Ferrel said. “There were a lot of good teams.”
Ceres posted a 4-1 record at Rainbow Fields.
“We hit really well,” Ferrel said. “Defensively, we didn’t have a lot of errors.”
Seeded third, the Sizzle lost 12-4 to the Stealth in the semifinals on Oct. 27.
“The just outhit us,” Ferrel said. “They have a more, experienced team. Come this summer, we’ll be more competitive with that team.”
Ceres advanced to the semis with an 8-1 win over the Galt Patriots on Oct. 27.
The Sizzle collected two wins and one tie in pool play on Oct. 26.
Ceres topped Play Hard 10-9 and Easton Bullets-Barron 13-5 on Oct. 26.
The Sizzle and Game Changers-Cooper battled to a 3-3 tie.
Ceres will compete at the Turkey Bash All-Star Tournament his weekend in Sacramento.
