The Ceres Sizzle 12-and-under travel softball team turned in its best performance of the season this past month.

The host Sizzle finished first overall at the Ceres Blast-Off Tournament, July 18-19, at Costa Fields.

“I’m not surprised,” Ceres head coach Audel Valencia said. “The girls stepped up and played to the level of what they’re capable of.”

The Sizzle posted a 5-0 record during their second-to-last tournament of the 2026 spring/summer season.

Ceres outscored its opponents, 54-22.

Jasmine Adams was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

“The girls played really well all weekend,” Valencia said. “We had timely hitting. Our pitchers didn’t give up a ton of runs. We made plays on defense when we had to.”

The Sizzle edged the Stockton Valley Ducks 7-6 for the championship in extra innings on July 19.

Noemi Garcia drove in the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Garcia’s walk-off sacrifice fly ball to center field scored Charlotte Turnbough from third base.

“She (Garcia) did what we needed her to do,” Valencia said.

Ceres beat the Santa Nella Nightmares 15-4 in the semifinals on July 19.

The Sizzle collected wins against the Ducks (5-4), Atwater Hornets (16-7) and Merced Nova (11-1) in seed play on July 18.

“It was good to see the girls have success,” Valencia said. “Everything came together.”

Ceres placed in the top three in tournament play for the second time in 2026.

The Sizzle took second in Woodland.

Ceres’ 12-player roster consists of Turnbough, Jasmine Adams, Beatriz Cantu, Ema Cordova, Aubrie Dodge, Lexi Foley, Noemi Garcia, Olivia Garcia, Victoria Pulido, Livvi Stevens, Juliet Valencia and Maliya Valencia.
