Two men were arrested on charge of attempted murder early Saturday morning after a man was found shot in the head in the 2100 block of Fifth Street.

Police were dispatched to the shooting scene at 2:22 a.m. The 44-year-old victim was found lying in a driveway with a head wound. Because of the amount of blood officers were unsure if the man took a bullet to the brain. They rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment where he is in serious condition but stable.

Within moments of broadcasting a description of the shooter's vehicle, an officer spotted and stopped a Mini Cooper in the area of Vernal Drive and Standford Avenue. Police arrested Marcos Bejaran , 36, of Ceres, and Jesus Fernandez, 41, of Modesto, on charges of attempted murder.
Police found a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun along path traveled by the suspects, said Police Sgt. Jose Berber.

The victim was released from the hospital.

No motive has yet to be determined but police say the victim knows the suspects.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Detective Darren Venn at 538-5616, or Crime Stoppers.
