A report of a man drinking a can of beer in public led to the man’s arrest near Pine Street and Central Avenue on Friday afternoon, Nov. 29.

Officer Alex Ochoa responded to the 1:21 p.m. call and found Fernando Hernandez, 40, of Ceres, standing on the corner holding the beer. Hernandez wouldn’t acknowledge the officer when he called him toward him and he took off running northbound on Central Avenue to Hackett Road. Hernandez attempted to jump over a chain-link fence and was subdued before making it over.

Hernandez was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and booked for public intoxication, resisting arrest and violating the terms of probation.
