TEEN WITH ALTERED FIREARM IN CAR ARRESTED

A 19-year-old Ceres man was arrested Saturday afternoon after police found he was carrying a loaded revolver in a pocket of his shorts while riding in a car.

At 2:20 p.m., Ceres Police officers were sent to the 2000 block of Glenda Road for a report of a large fight involving 10 to 15 persons and occupants of a Chrysler 300 involved. As officers arrived they saw and spotted a vehicle matching the description leaving the area for vehicle code violations. One of the occupants was Anthony Garcia, 19, of Ceres.

While an officer was patting Garcia down for weapons, he advised the officer he had a firearm concealed in his shorts. Garcia was detained and officers located a loaded revolver in a pocket of his shorts. Officers noticed the serial number had been ground down, making the gun untraceable.

Garcia was arrested on charges of carrying a loaded firearm in public and altering or removing identification marks on a firearm and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

HOMELESS MAN ARRESTED FOR WARRANTS

A 42-year-old Empire man was arrested on Tuesday evening, August 11 after he was spotted at a closed business and had two warrants for his arrest.

At 11:39 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Brian Chandler was patrolling the parking lot of a vacant business at 1830 Mitchell Road, when he observed Jeffrey Lee illegally camping on the property. Through a records check, Officer Chandler learned Lee had the warrants, one of which was for felony theft.

Officer Chandler arrested Lee and booked him into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

BICYCLIST ARRESTED FOR WARRANTS

A Keyes man was arrested during a Tuesday, August 11 bicycle stop because he had a felony warrant for his arrest related to making criminal threats.

At approximately 10:17 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Tyler Wilson was traveling in the area of Hatch Road and Jim Way when he stopped 35-year-old Sergio Gutierrez for vehicle code violations. A records check revealed the warrant was active so Gutierrez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

INTOXICATED DRIVER PASSES OUT BEHIND THE WHEEL AND WAS ARRESTED: CERES – A 33-year-old Ceres driver who passed out drunk behind the wheel of a car stopped in an intersection was arrested for DUI early Saturday morning.

At 3:37 a.m., Ceres Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Morgan Road and Whitmore Avenue for a reported of a white-colored Acura TSX that did not move when the light changed, and two occupants asleep in their seats. Officer Kyle Hatcher arrived on scene and contacted the driver, Veronica Vasquez and suspected that she had too much to drink.

Vasquez was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples nearly triple the legal limit. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on DUI charges.

This was one of 10 DUI arrests during this reporting period of August 11-17.
