Police are looking for the driver who crashed a green Ford Mustang into a wooden power pole on the south side of Whitmore Avenue at Dallas Avenue on Friday evening.

The 11:36 p.m. crash totaled the Mustang and prompted a crew from Turlock Irrigation District to make emergency repairs.

Witnesses said that the driver exited the car and got into another car which fled the scene.

Police are looking for the suspected driver and identified him as Manuel Torres of Ceres. Later that evening Torres attempted to report the vehicle as "stolen" to the California Highway Patrol but they would not accept the report as legitimate.

Ceres police are seeking to arrest Torres to prosecute him for the crime of hit and run.
