DUI suspect found with meth, rifle

Jose Ramirez, 46, of Modesto, was arrested early Friday when an officer spotted him driving over the curb while leaving the 7-Eleven on Herndon Road and Joyce Avenue and suspected a drunken driver.

Officer Matthew Myers followed Ramirez in his Chevy Cobalt at 2:01 a.m. and noticed he was weaving back and forth as it traveled slowly northbound on Herndon Road. When he pulled Ramirez the officer detected the smell of alcohol and appeared intoxicated. At the conclusion of a DUI investigation Ramirez was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

During a search of Ramirez’s car, a rifle was found with live ammo accessible in the back seat. Suspected methamphetamine and glass meth pipes were also located. 

Ramirez faces charges of driving under the influence, possession of a concealed firearm within a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
