A Ceres father and son were arrested over an alleged theft of a 50-inch TV worth $2,000 on Friday evening.

Police were called at 7:05 p.m. by a 33-year-old woman living in the 1900 block of Columbard Way who stated that her 18-year-old son, Michael Cervantez, had moved out and took the TV with him. The mother ordered Michael not to take the TV, which was awarded to her during a divorce proceeding. The teenager allegedly took it anyway and moved in with his father, Robert Cervantez, 38, of Ceres. She asked police to find and arrest her son.

Officers went to Robert Cervantez's home in the 3000 block of Point Gray. From the porch the officer could see the TV sitting in the living room. When the officer went to arrest Michael on theft charges, Robert Cervantez intervened and additional officers were called in to assisted in the arrest.

Robert Cervantez was arrested for obstructing or delaying an officer and possession of stolen property while Michael was booked for grand theft.

The TV was returned to the mother.
