Hit & run crash leads to DUI arrest
Ceres Cop Car

A non-injury hit and run crash into a car and backyard fences in the 2100 block of Hackett Road ended in the Saturday evening arrest of the driver, suspected of being intoxicated.

At 6:28 p.m. residents reported a car hit another car before going through several back yard fences without hitting any structures, and that the driver fled on foot. Citizens followed the suspect from near the intersection of Hackett Road and Central Avenue.

Officer Hector Pulido located Jose Cardenas Fajardo, 45, of Modesto, near Central and Railroad avenues. Fajardo appeared drunk and was given a field sobriety test by Officer Billy Carter. Fajardo, who admitted drinking two Bud Light beers prior to driving, provided a breath sample with a result of 0.16 percent blood alcohol content, double the legal limit. He was booked on charges of DUI and hit and run.
