Armed with a power saw in one hand and a hammer and screwdriver in the other hand, a 37-year-old Modesto man was arrested Sunday morning for tampering with a city water main in the area of Evans Road and Ashbury Court.

Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was on patrol at 9:45 a.m. when he spotted Adam Moore at the leaking main. When confronted Moore told Officer Souza that he was tasked with fixing the water main but it wasn’t true. Moore also provided a false name but later gave him the correct name.

Moore was on probation and had two felony warrants for vehicle theft. Moore was arrested and booked for the warrants and new charges of tampering with a water main, providing a false name to police, and probation violation.
