A 20-year-old Manteca man riding an ATV was arrested Friday evening after he led Ceres Police officers on a pursuit.

The incident began at 8:35 p.m. when Officer Charles Rushing initiated an enforcement stop of a black ATV in the area of Morgan Road and Marchy Lane. Instead of pulling over, rider Benjamin Mendoza fled, traveling down canal banks and into orchards. With the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department and its helicopter, Mendoza was located and arrested. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a charge of evading a peace officer without regard for the public.
