Police say beware of man posing to be TID employee

Ceres Police Department has received multiple reports of Ceres residents receiving calls from someone claiming to be associated with Turlock Irrigation District to schedule a time for them to go to their home and look at their meter. The caller claims there is an issue that can cause a fire or explosion. I n one instance, a resident scheduled an appointment and were then told that they needed to go to Walgreens to make a $300 payment.

Residents who receive these calls should contact Turlock Irrigation District customer service at 883-8222 to confirm whether there are any meter or service issues related to their account. Never give your personal information or send money to random callers. If a suspicious person goes to your home attempting to collect money, please contact Ceres Police Dispatch (209) 538-5712 immediately so an officer may investigate.
