RECKLESS DRIVER, 25, LEADS POLICE ON CHASE BEFORE ARREST
A 25-year-old man from Modesto was arrested late Friday evening after he was seen speeding through Ceres and led police on a pursuit.
At 11:19 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Juan Ramos was patrolling the area of Whitmore and Central avenues when he saw a Kia Telluride being driven recklessly by Isaiahez Macias. He was traveling at such a high rate of speed that Officer Ramos was unable to catch up to him until he approached the intersection of Morgan Road near Hackett Road.
Officer Ramos attempted to vehicle stop but Macias fled and a pursuit was initiated. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s helicopter was overhead in minutes to track him while the ground pursuit was terminated out of concern for public safety.
The pursuit ended when Macias failed to negotiate the corner at Whitmore Avenue and Blaker Road, and ran the car into a fence. Macias ran from the vehicle which caught fire but was apprehended with the help of Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies and a canine.
Officer Ramos detected signs that Macias was under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading police in a vehicle, DUI, resisting arrest, fleeing from the scene of a vehicle collision and driving on a license suspended for DUI.
Macias’ arrest was one of 10 DUI arrests made last week.
BICYCLIST ARRESTED FOR DRUGS, GIVING POLICE FALSE NAME
A 21-year-old Ceres man stopped on his bicycle on Tuesday evening, April 28, ended up in jail on multiple charges.
The 11:55 p.m. stop made by Ceres Police Officer Gary Singh was made for a vehicle code violation in the area of Herndon and Hatch roads.
Ish Yrigollen initially gave the officer a false name likely due to the fact that he was on probation and could be searched for the drugs he had on him. Once the officer learned his true identity and a white crystalline substance suspected as being methamphetamine was discovered on him, Yrigollen was arrested.
He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on three charges – providing a false name to a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance and violating the terms of his probation.
PASSENGER IN CAR STOP ARRESTED FOR ID THEFT
A Wednesday evening, April 29 traffic stop made in the 3300 block of Perisburg Lane resulted in the arrest of a passenger who was in possession of items stolen in a residential burglary.
At 8:38 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Kyle Hatcher was on patrol when he stopped a BMW 335i for vehicle code violations. One of the occupants was on probation so the vehicle was searched. Officer Hatcher located a small plastic baggy containing a white crystalline substance and a wallet containing someone else’s driver’s license, a blank check and a Social Security card.
An investigation led back to a residential burglary.
Shannon Davis, 41, of Modesto, was arrested for possession of personal information with the intent of committing forgery, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Davis was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
LOITERER ARRESTED FOR PAROLE VIOLATION WARRANT
A 41-year-old Ceres man wanted for violating the terms of his parole was arrested early Thursday as he was loitering in front of Latino’s Bar at 2142 Mitchell Road.
Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza spotted Jaime Lopez at 4:12 a.m. and went in to see what he was up to. When he ran his name through the system the officer learned Lopez had an arrest warrant.
He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
TWO WARRANTS LAND LOCAL IN JAIL
A Modesto man with two felony warrants for his arrest was spotted in Ceres Monday evening and taken into custody.
At 4:59 p.m. Officer Charles Lord-Huff was patrolling the area of Hatch Road and Richland Avenue when he recognized David Luque, 39, standing next to a Dodge Durango in the AM/PM parking lot. Knowing that he was wanted, Officer Lord-Huff approached Luque who attempted to run away. He was nabbed and taken to the county jail with an added charge of resisting arrest.
