A Modesto man with a criminal record of 12 DUI convictions was arrested Tuesday, June 24 after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed into two parked vehicles on Garrison Avenue.
Sergio Martinez, 49, was driving a 1996 Chevy SUV westbound on Garrison Avenue from Rose Avenue at 8:02 p.m. when he drifted and struck the two parked cars on the north side of the street.
Martinez was recently released from Soledad State Prison where he served three years stemming from a DUI conviction, said acting Police Chief Brent Smith.
In another DUI case, police arrested a heavily intoxicated Ricardo Raya, 38, of Ceres, on Sunday morning after he was found passed out behind the wheel and stopped in the roadway on Central Avenue and Herndon Road.
Raya was located at 2 a.m. sitting in a stopped white four-door vehicle.
He consented to giving a blood sample at a local hospital to determine the level of his intoxication. Raya was arrested on charges of drunken driving.
