Police arrested an armed robbery suspect who was staying at the Howard Johnson Express at 1672 Herndon Road on Saturday evening.

A tip to Crime Stoppers led Officer Jesus Salinas to the Ceres motel at 9:29 p.m.

Reginald Wayne Gilmore, 59, of Salida, had an active warrant issued for his arrest by the Modesto Police Department as a suspect in an armed robbery. Officer Salinas and other officers knocked on Gilmore's door. When he opened it Gilmore ducked behind the door which was then forced open. Upset that he was captured, Gilmore refused to speak to police and was booked into the Public Safety Center.
