A 22-year-old Modesto man was arrested last week for robbery after he fought with store security personnel while he was in the process of shoplifting.

Ceres Police were called to the Home Depot store on Hatch Road at 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25regarding a shoplifter who was fighting with store employees. A loss prevention officer was struggling with Vandin Birdsong, 22, of Modesto, who had entered the store and concealed several items inside his clothing and left without paying for them. A large crown which formed around the incident had to be calmed for police to reach him.

Vandin was arrested and booked for robbery.
