A 17-year-old Modesto boy was booked into Juvenile Hall on Sunday afternoon after he was spotted inside a parked stolen car.

The boy, whose name was not released because of a state law that protects the identities of minors, was spotted by Officer Dirk Niewenhuis sitting in the car at 3:53 p.m. in the parking lot of apartments at 1625 Richland Avenue. The stolen gray 1990 Honda Civic had been stolen previously. As the officer pulled up, the teen got out and scurried away but was arrested.
