A 19-year-old teenager was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 8 after he walked into the Ceres Police Department headquarters and threatened he was about to shoot himself to death.

The man picked up the white courtesy phone at 6 p.m. and told dispatchers that he was there to kill himself. A dispatcher kept him on the line to calm him. Officers' concerns were heightened because the man was asking from what direction officers would be coming. The suspect was caught by surprise without the use of force and taken to county Mental Health Department for evaluation.

The teen had no gun.
