A 25-year-old Modesto woman was arrested Saturday evening after she allegedly stole from Rancho San Miguel market and tried to stab a loss prevention officer who confronted her.

The alleged robbery took place prior to 8:19 p.m. when Bianca Gomez was stopped by the store agent who was trying to detain her for police. Gomez allegedly produced a knife and tried stabbing him, said Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry. She got away and ran southbound across Hatch Road toward the 99 Cents Only store.

Ceres Police Sgt. Darren Venn located Gomez in front of the AT&T store and took her into custody. A knife was found in her pocket.

Police learned that she had an active warrant for her arrest for a prior theft. She was charged with robbery.
