Two arrested for shooting from car

Two men from other parts of the Valley were arrested Friday evening for firing a weapon from a car whose driver was allegedly intoxicated.

At 10:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Taggert Court for a report a large disturbance in the street and later of shots being fired. One caller stated occupants who were responsible fled in a white Mercedes. 

The car was quickly located and stopped by Officer Kevin Sakasegawa at Nadine and Wizard Lane. Driver Nitesh Babbar, 31, of Fresno, displayed signs of being intoxicated. Officer Hall conducted a DUI investigation, which included Nitesh submitting a breath sample that blew over the legal limit. He was arrested for DUI and negligent discharge of a firearm.

Passenger Harpreet Singh, 30, of Elk Grove, was charged with the negligent discharge of a firearm.

A black firearm was located inside the Mercedes.
