Ceres Police arrested two women who got violent during the robbery of $1,300 worth of shoes at the WSS shoe store at 1342 Hatch Road Saturday evening.

Arrested were Amaya Bershell, 23, of Antioch, and Isaneek Scott, 23, of Turlock. According to police, employees tried to stop the women during the theft but were assaulted as they fled the store. One of the employees followed Bershell and Scott to their white-colored Lexus IS300, at which time Scott got out and approached the employee’s vehicle, throwing items at the vehicle, punching and kicking it to break off a side mirror. The suspects then fled and police were called at 7 p.m. They were last seen southbound on Crows Landing Road.

Officers began searching for the Lexus and within minutes, Officer Charles Lord-Huff found it and conducted a vehicle stop on North Street near Fourth Street in downtown Ceres. A high-risk felony car stop was made on the vehicle to remove Bershell and Scott.

Scott became combative as she was being arrested and assaulted one of the officers.

Bershell and Scott were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center – Bershell for robbery, possession of stolen property and driving on a license that was suspended for DUI; and Scott for robbery, vandalism, possession of stolen property, battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
