Ceres Police Officer Jonathan Blount arrested a 29-year-old man who was spotted lying on the sidewalk on Saturday evening, because of drug paraphernalia possession and lying about his name.

Officer Blount approached Andrew Maldonado, 29, at 11:58 p.m. as he was stretched out on the concrete in the 2500 block of Mitchell Road. Blount knew Maldonado from prior contacts yet the suspect provided a false name. Maldonado finally provided his real name, and was found to be on probation. A search revealed that Maldonado had drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of providing false information to a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.
