Vehicle burglar chased to French Camp
Ceres Cop Car

A man suspected of burglarizing cars in the parking lot of Runaround Sue's bar on Mitchell Road resulted in a lengthy Thursday morning police pursuit that was halted in French Camp by the California Highway Patrol.

Officer Kiashira Ruiz was dispatched to the bar at 12:17 a.m. for a vehicle burglary in progress. The suspect, Jimmie Stern, 36, of Modesto, realized he was being watched and attempted to leave in his car when Ruiz saw him and attempted to make a traffic stop. Stern accelerated westbound on Hatch Road with Ruiz in pursuit as the chase entered onto northbound Highway 99. The California Highway Patrol was called in to assist in the pursuit, which ended at French Camp Road in San Joaquin County. Stern was arrested and turned over to Ceres Police Department, which booked him at the Stanislaus County Jail.

Stern was charged with felony pursuit, possession of methamphetamine, possession of burglary tools and violation of felony probation.
