Citizens interested in serving on the Stanislaus County Civil Grand Jury for the fiscal year of 2021-22 are encouraged to contact the Grand Jury Office at 525-4252 for an application to be mailed or go to www.stanct.org/grand-jury to download an application form. Go to the Divisions tab and click on Grand Jury.  Under Related Links located at the bottom of the left column, click on Selection/Application Process. On that page please see the How to Apply section and click on “download the application form.”

The deadline for submitting applications was moved from April 2 to April 30 because of reduced interest, likely because of COVID-19.

The primary function of the Civil Grand Jury is to act as the public “watchdog” by investigating and reporting upon the affairs of local governmental agencies, including county and city government, special districts and school districts.

All persons who qualify to serve on the grand jury will be interviewed by a panel designated by the presiding Judge Robert Westbrook who will then select 30 finalists from which 19 will be selected by random drawing to serve with six alternates.

Jurors must meet the same qualifications as trial jurors but will serve July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022. Grand jurors must be available at least 20 hours per month.

In addition, due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements, applicants must be able to work via telephonic or video appearance (a smart phone and internet access are required).
