A Mass was held Tuesday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Amador Vargas, 77, of Patterson. He died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 at Scenic Circle Care Center in Modesto.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Born March 28, 1928, Mr. Vargas was a native of Mexico and had lived in Patterson since 2004 and had lived in California since 1981. He was a horse groomer for Golden Gate Fields for 15 years. Mr. Vargas was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres.

He leaves behind his wife, Dolores Vargas of Patterson; seven children, Jesus Vargas of Modesto, Noe Vargas and Concepcion Vargas, both of Hayward, Idolina Chavez of Oakdale, Teresa Vargas and Elia Vargas, both of Mexico, and Guadalupe Parra of Patterson; his parents, Caterino Vargas and Niefes Maldonado, both of Mexico; two brothers, Avelino Vargas and Donaciano, both of Mexico; his sister, Maria Luisa Vargas of Mexico; and 22 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a sister.
