A funeral was held Friday at Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation for Daniel Karam, 76, of Modesto. He died Monday, June 14, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Born Feb. 1, 1928, Mr. Karam was a native of Bristol, Conn., and lived in Modesto since 1954 and previously lived in for Turlock 15 years. He was a mechanic and and worked in quality control for 331/2 years for James River Corp. Mr. Karam also had farmed. He belonged to the Smyrna Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons in Ceres, the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunication, and Scottish Rite Bodies in Stockton. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Karam enjoyed flying, ranching and fishing.

He leaves behind his wife, Zeffie Karam of Modesto; two children, Steven Karam of Modesto and Mariann Smith of Saratoga; his brother, Nicholas Karam of Modesto; his sister, Lillian Jacob of Turlock; and two grandchildren.
