Douglas A. Caulkins

A graveside service was held Monday at Ceres Memorial Cemetery for Douglas A. Caulkins, 59, of Ceres. He died unexpectedly at his home on July 17, 2008.

Born in Corning on Oct. 7, 1948, Mr. Caulkins grew up in Ceres, living in the same house up to his death. He graduated from Ceres High School in 1966. He went to work for Foster Farms in 1982 and retired after 22 years. Mr. Caulkins was an active member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 588. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and loved to travel to such places as Half Moon Bay or Halifax, taking pictures along the way.

He leaves behind his aunts, Barbara Martin Fields of Danville and Lois Thompson of Ceres; and cousins including Melanie Headrick, Dina Medici, Kelly Martin, Maureen Still, Karen Sheppie, Nick Nichols, Stanton Denny Denlis, Mike Denlis, July Olson and Nancy Ash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Caulkins, and brother Wayne.

Remembrances may be sent to the Spay and Neuter Clinic, Stanislaus County Animal Services, 2846 Finch Road, Modesto, CA 95354; or to a favorite charity.
