Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Mary Lou Ridpath, 70, of Turlock. The former Ceres resident died Oct. 8, 2008 at her home with family members by her side.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Allen Mortuary.

Born August 1938 to Robert and Virginia Whalen, Mary Lou was a native of Alhambra. She was married to Jack Ridpath in 1957. They moved to Ceres in 1968 and settled in Turlock in 1970. Mrs. Ridpath was a member of the Central Valley Knights and the Boer Goats Association. She enjoyed cars; she and her husband won tons of awards and was one of the lead cars in the parade at Hot August Nights in Reno one year. Mary Lou also enjoyed visits to Black Oak Casino, Sparks, Nevada and Lake Tahoe where her and her family vacationed. Most of all, she loved her animals.

She leaves behind two daughters, Nanci Pena of Tracy and Teri Strickler of Merced; her mother, Virginia Whalen; three brothers, Robert Whalen, Gary Whalen and John Whalen; her sister, Beverly Earl; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Jack Ridpath and son Robert Ridpath, Sr.
