Ora passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5 after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Ellerville, Okla., Ora moved to Battlemountain, Nev., at the age of 16. She worked as a cook on a cattle ranch. She met her husband, Paul, and they moved to the San Joaquin Valley where they farmed. They moved to Ceres in 1953.

Ora enjoyed horses and volunteered many hours to Memorial Hospital in Ceres where she was the chairman of the Candy Stripers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Pearl Cole; sisters Jane McFarland and Doris Tompson; her brother Rothel Cole; husband Paul Howard Tanner; son Paul Phillip Tanner; and second husband Rudy DeKleva.

She is survived by her children, Tom Tanner (Gracie), Karren Standridge (Lee), Aaron Tanner (Terry), and William Tanner (Kim); and five grandchildren.
