A funeral service was held Tuesday at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Robert "Bob" Melvin Casey, 80, of Ceres. He died Aug. 11, 2008 at his home and surrounded by his family.

Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park.

Born October 1927, Mr. Casey was a native of Claremore, Okla. He was raised in Oklahoma and Colorado. In 1943, Bob moved to Turlock. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948 in the South Pacific. Mr. Casey married Janie Brummitt in 1951, then moved to Ceres where he lived since. Bob worked for Modesto Welding and Tank Works for over 30 years as a welder. He was a member of First Southern Baptist and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing music. Mr. Casey taught himself how to play the harmonica, piano, and guitar.

He leaves behind his wife, Janie Casey of Ceres; his daughters, Nancy Webb of Merced and Linda Kelley of Everton, Mo.; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughters Janet Kinslow and Barbara Casey, brothers Jessie Casey and Frank Casey and parents Robert and Minnie Casey.
