A graveside service was held Tuesday at Turlock Memorial Park for Robert Joseph Mendosa, 82, of Coulterville. He died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at his home.

Allen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Born March 11, 1923, Mr. Mendosa was a native of San Jose, and lived in Mariposa County for 23 years and previously in Turlock and Hughson. Mr. Mendosa was a truck driver for 30 years. He was a member of the Foster Parent Association of Mariposa County. Mr. Mendosa was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He enjoyed reading his Bible, hunting and motorcycle riding.

Mr. Mendosa leaves behind his wife, Evelyn Mendosa of Coulterville; seven children, Bill Owens, Robert Mendosa Jr., Conrad Mendosa, Divine Mendosa and Darrel Smith, all of Coulterville, JoElla Sneed of Atwater and Jeannie Bulot of Hemet; two brothers, Raymond Mendosa of Turlock and Richard Mendosa of Delhi; three sisters, Frances Serpa of Hughson, Eleanor Stamper of Delhi and Dorothy Gregory of Antioch; and 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
